Seattle II

Forgive me for submerging you in a sea of blogs but I’m trying to get caught up as I find myself about three days behind. We are in Ashland at the moment and will be leaving on the last leg of our journey tomorrow as we head back to Rancho Mirage. I really don’t want to be sitting at our home in the Springs writing about our time in Portland or Ashland.

I believe in #34 you were witness to the mouthwatering delicious meal we were served at the Rainier Club. What I failed to mention, though apparent in the photos, was that Bobbie and Larry Morris and friends of Gloria and Gerry’s joined us.

The following day Gerry, Larry and myself headed off to Broadmoor Golf Course for a game while the girls went off to have breakfast with Dee and Stan Little and then some shopping.

The garden, established in 2012, is the work of Dale Chihuly, a 74-year-old glass artist born in Tacoma, Washington. He has had glass exhibits all over the world; Jerusalem, Chihuly at the V&A and Kew Gardens in London and the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Annie’s enthusiastic critique was reduced to one word, “beautiful”.Chihuly 1

That evening, once again we headed over the floating bridge, back to Seattle, but this time not to the Rainier Club, but across the street to the Columbia Tower Club as guests of Bobbie and Larry Morris. Two quick rides on elevators had us seventy-six floors closer to the stars.

Appetizer Seattle 2 Seattle 1

Sitting in the bar with drinks and an appetizer (as shown), we were met with a panoramic view of Seattle and the surrounding area.

Dinner at Columbia ClubAll had a lovely dinner before we bid the stars good-bye and heading down to terra firma and back to the warmth of our momentary red brick colonial home. Our thoughts then on the wonderful two days just spent with the Swanson’s and the Morris’ and the next day’s journey to Portland and family.
