Mauna Lai Golf Villas

Friday, April 6

We drove into Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon as that evening was a special occasion for us. April 5thmarked the 34th wedding anniversary, so how did we celebrate it?  Annie went out with Sara, Gail and Theresa for a pre-birthday dinner while I had an Italian dinner with my son, Richard.  We both had a wonderful anniversary and wouldn’t change a thing.

Armed with one large suitcase, two golf bags, one carry-on and a very large purse, we headed for Los Angeles International airport and our 5 ½ hour flight to Kona, Hawaii.  After listening to Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Beethoven’s glorious 9thSymphony and the movie, Sideways, we landed on the island of Hawaii.  Bruce and Jill, who flew United, landed a few minutes before us and were there to greet us, although minus the leis. He then went on to Hertz while we wrestled with our luggage.  Finally he arrived in a brand new Nissan SUV and we were just able to get all the luggage in before heading for our condo in the Mauna Lai Golf Villas.

After some unpacking and a certain someone who grabbed a few zzzz’s on the bed, we met up downstairs for “cocktail hour”.  It is 5:00 o’clock here in Hawaii, but 8:00 o’clock in Rancho Mirage. We’re off to a 6:00 o’clock dinner res. After cocktails, so will finish and send off later.

Hi again, back from a great dinner at the Mauna Lai Beach Club.  Have a couple photos I’ll attach, showing the condo, the area, and the restaurant.  Just something for you to wake up to in the am.

Tomorrow we have a 10:00 tee time at the North course and then maybe some beach time in the afternoon. Hopefully it wont rain.

See you tomorrow.
