Hampton Court – Part Two

Dinner table 2 Dinner table Entrance ceiling Inner CourtyardHi there,

If you recall in my previous blog, Hampton Court was a home to three monarchs, Henry VIII, William and Mary and the Georgian period of George I to George IV. Most of the pictures I included in the last blog dealt with the Period of Henry VIII. The pictures that I’ll include now are mainly from the period of William and Mary and the Georgian period. Sadly I wish I would have been more careful in marking the pictures as I’ve now mixed up the two periods. At least it will give you a look at the period from 1689 to 1702, the reign of William and Mary and the Georgian period between 1714 and 1830.

Tomorrow, Monday, we start some preliminary packing as we are down to eight days left here as we leave a week from Tuesday. Looking back the three months seem to fly by and to Gail’s chagrin, not one museum did we visit. Tomorrow if the packing goes well, we hope to leave a bit early for our theatre date and visit the Tower of London, only the Moat area. They are in the process of placing over 800,000 ceramic red poppies there commemorating those who gave their lives during WW I. Hopefully the pictures will tell the story. Then that evening we are off to see “Charles III”, a play about Prince Charles ascending to the throne after the passing of Queen Elizabeth. Those who have seen it say it is a ‘must see’…!!!

This morning we visited with Marie Curtin, Theresa’s sister who lives fairly close in Southfields, near Wimbledon. This afternoon we visited with Gareth’s brother and sisters at Adam Tandy’s home near Richmond. He has just done a major remodel and the place is fabulous. Then it was back to our place at Vicarage Gardens with Michele and Gareth topped off by the first episode of “Downton Abbey”

So now, off to bed….Queens bed Williams desk
