#3 And Short

#3 And Short

Buenos dias,

This one is short as we had a very quiet day. Adjusting to Spanish time and eating at 10:00 p.m., puts you to bed at about midnight. So, up and at em at 9:00 a.m., I ventured off to our favorite store, El Corte Ingles to find a few items, one being a electrical converter, the other two some hangers and an ice tray. The latter was the most difficult… I couldn’t seem to translate the words “ice tray”. Finally I spoke with someone who had a partial understanding of English and he gave me the Spanish words for it.

That encompassed my exciting morning. We then ventured off to the “San Miguel Mercardo”, a wonderful market that includes not only market stuff, but various Tapas Bars for either lunch or dinner. The only down side to eating there is you have to fight to get a stool or table. So we chose to go to a nearby Plaza for a ‘sit-down’ lunch which consisted of Shrimp and Ham. I added a Russian salad which turned out to be Potato salad.

Back at the apartment for a afternoon siesta before attacking the evening. Now one of the things we discovered was that it is good to have some sort of “translator” available. So, we discovered that on the phone we have is a “google translator”, thus we now can avoid trying to find someone who ‘speaks English’.

I’ll include a few pictures of the market, a wonderful area in the event you visit this wonderful city. Tomorrow, being Sunday, even the Lord rested. So, will drop you a line next week. Our plan for Monday and Tuesday is to do one of those “City Bus Tours”. The ones you can get on and off at various locations. This, hopefully will give us the first overall view of the city and then after that we can concentrate on the areas of interest. Also, we hope to do side trips to Toledo and perhaps even Segovia. All that to come later.

Adios,

Annie & Bobby
